BRIEF INTRODUCTION:<\/strong><\/p>

Raja Ramdeo Anandilal Podar Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Mumbai (CCRAS) is one of the peripheral institutes under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India.<\/p>

This institute was established in December 1986 in the Podar Medical Campus, Worli, Mumbai. Prior to the establishment of the institute nine units of CCRAS were functioning at different places in Mumbai and Pune. All these units merged to form Central Research Institute (Ay) and shifted to the Podar Medical campus of Worli, Mumbai except for the Pharmacology & Toxicology unit placed in B.Y.L. Nair Medical College, Mumbai due to paucity of space. At present, that unit is not functioning, as there is no fresh appointment after the superannuation of the working officers.<\/p>

This institute since its inception i.e. from 1986, has been maintaining its status as the Central Research Institute for Ayurveda in the region and undergoing through a continuous process of up-gradation as per requirements such as Cancer OPD, Geriatric OPD, and Specialty clinics like Pediatric OPD, Ano-rectal OPD, Rheumatology OPD etc. establishment of Panchakarma therapy centre for the treatment of different diseases, in the field of Research in Ayurveda.<\/p>

As per Council’s Notification No. F. 12-30\/2009-CCRAS\/Estt.\/Pt.I\/117 dated 12.04.2016, this institute has been renamed as “Raja Ramdeo Anandilal Podar (RRAP) Central Ayurveda Research Institute for Cancer\u201d, Mumbai.<\/p>

This institute has been renamed “Raja Ramdeo Anandilal Podar (RRAP) Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Mumbai.\u201d as per Council’s Notification No. F. 12-39\/2015-CCRAS\/Estt.\/4788 dated 22.12.2020.<\/p>

  • Clinical Research on lifestyle-related and non-communicable disorders with a main focus on Cancer.<\/li>

    Achievement in Brief since Inception<\/b><\/p>

    The Central Research Institute, in its initial period established basic infrastructure to facilitate the functioning of various departments.<\/span><\/p>

    • After the establishment of minimum suitable facilities; the General outpatient department started functioning from the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti i.e. 2<\/span>nd<\/span> Oct 1987, which started catering to <\/span>many patients. The number of patients increased day after day. <\/span>4,79,419 <\/span>patients <\/span>availed of the services<\/span> till the end of the 31<\/span>st <\/span>March 202<\/span>4.<\/span><\/li>
    • Out of these patients, attending O.P.D patients requiring close observation and stay in the hospital were selected and admitted to the 50 bedded indoor facility which started functioning since May 1990 after the nursing personnel were appointed. Vide MOU between Director General, CCRAS and Director of AYUSH, Govt. of Maharashtra dated 12.12.2013. 25 beds have been allotted in the M. A. Podar Hospital w.e.f. January 2014. Total 7,443 patients having different ailments were treated till the end of 31<\/span>st<\/span> March 2024.<\/span><\/li>
    • Panchakarma therapy unit started functioning in Nov. 1989 and 2,75,831 and 3,03,201 Panchakarma procedures were carried out on the O.P.D and I.P.D patients respectively\u00a0 till the end of this reporting year.<\/span><\/li>
    • At the Physiotherapy department 9,352 patients were managed in this reporting year.<\/span><\/li>
    • Suitably equipped clinical-pathological lab was established in March 1988 with the facilities for basic tests. 13,452 samples of various investigations were performed in this reporting year.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

      Progress Report of the Health Care Service for the FY 2023-22024<\/b><\/p>

      1. Outdoor patient department (OPD) \u2013 26881 patients (New = 6412 and old = 20469)<\/span><\/li>
      2. Special Cancer OPD \u2013 875 patients (New = 187 and old = 688)<\/span><\/li>
      3. Special Geriatric OPD \u2013 1201 patients (New = 414 and old = 787)<\/span><\/li>
      4. Indoor patient department (IPD) \u2013 528 patients with Bed occupancy rate at 73.46%<\/span><\/li>
      5. Panchakarma \u2013 20519 procedures (OPD =4759 and IPD = 15760)<\/span><\/li>
      6. Physiotherapy \u2013 9352 patients (OPD = 5689 and IPD = 3663)<\/span><\/li>
      7. Laboratory \u2013 13452 tests (OPD =11111 & IPD = 2341)<\/span><\/li><\/ol>

        MoU – Collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), Mumbai<\/b><\/p>

        RRAP-CARI, Mumbai (CCRAS) has signed MoU with TMC, Mumbai for Cooperation in Research & Development in the field of Ayurveda and Integrative Oncology\/ Cancer Research in May 2022 for the period of five years. TMC agreed to facilitate Joint Clinics (JCs) at TMH and ACTREC wherein CARI Research officer will interact with the conventional system counterpart for better understanding the two systems and to draw the strategy for further collaboration. Research Officers from CARI, Mumbai initiated to attend the JCs at TMH and ACTREC in various DMGs. A Joint Working Group vis-\u00e0-vis Joint Monitoring Committee involving scientists from both the organizations is constituted for the purpose of MoU. As an outcome of these JCs, three projects have been formulated and submitted to funding agencies for consideration of approval.
