Research – Oriented Public Health Care programs
Ayurveda Mobile Health Care Programme (AMHCP) under (SCSP)
Since the date of initiation (01.01.2016) to 31.03.2021, a total of 25 areas in the Mumbai and Mumbai Sub-Urban Districts were surveyed. Out of a total of 50,894 populations studied through 873 visits in 57 months, 36,828 SC people were surveyed for their socio-demographic condition, dietary and personal habits-related information, morbidity-related information and health-seeking behaviour. The out-reach OPDs arranged periodically or regularly at the survey sites gave benefit to 15,077 new patients. Out of them, 8,569 patients followed up with the out-reach OPDs regularly to seek Ayurvedic medicines for their ailments.
Following research projects have also been conducted during the year 2021-22:
- A prospective community-based study for the evaluation of Punarnava Mandoor in Anemia (Pandu).
- Effectiveness of Ayurveda-based diet and lifestyle advocacy on health-related QOL in scheduled cast population in India- a community-based, cluster-randomized control study.
- A prophylactic community-based study to assess the impact of Ayu Raksha kit in COVID-19.
Reproductive and Child Health Care programme under SCSP
Reproductive and Child Health Care Programme under Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCSP) was executed during the period 2019 -2020 with the aim to study the living conditions of women and children of scheduled castes people; for the propagation of knowledge about health, hygiene, nutrition; to provide medical aid for prevention and management of diseases at their doorsteps on the principles of Ayurveda.
Under this program, the Institute has surveyed 10494 populations of 6 villages, and health care service has been provided to 2142 patients for the year 2019-2020.
Swasthya Rakshan Programme –
This project was executed during the period 2016 to 2019. A total of 550 no. of tours were covered in different areas of Mumbai, wherein 15,793 patients were treated.
Training and Ph.D Program at Institute
- This Institute conducted a Summer Internship Program under Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik for the year 2023-24 for 10 students for a period of 2 weeks for 6 various learning goals from 19.06.2023 to 01.07.2023.
- Dr. R. Govind Reddy, Assistant Director (Ayu) Incharge is recognised as a Ph. D Guide for Shalya-Tantra (Surgery) by ITRA, Jamnagar from March 2024 onwards.
- Dr. Shilpa Yadav is pursuing PhD under MUHS, Nashik at this institute and working on “Role of Satva Bala in the assessment of effect of Ashwagandha in Cancer patients with special reference to their mental health” under Dr. R. Govind Reddy, Assistant Director (Ayu) Incharge.
- Dr. Prajakta Sawant from DY Patil Ayurveda College, Pune is pursuing MD (Ayu) dissertation work under Dr. Manohar S. Gundeti, Co-Guide.
- Dr. R. Govind Reddy, Assistant Director (Ayu) In charge has been appointed as an Adjunct faculty at Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha, Maharashtra since 15th June 2023 (CCRAS O. O no F.no 4-79/2001-CCRAS/Estt./Vol-VII/1648 Dated 15-06-2023)
